Earth Day Activities for Waterbury, CT

Today is Earth Day. What You Can Do To Help in Waterbury, CT

Today is officially Earth Day, where we all dedicate our time and energy to making the planet on which we live a better place for ourselves and our posterity. How? By recycling, picking up our trash, encouraging the use of green energy and other measures designed to improve the quality of life and stop the deterioration of the earth.

While there were no activities planned for today, that does not mean that Earth day was forgotten in Waterbury, CT. There are at least two activities planned in commemoration of Earth Day in which Waterbury, CT residents can take a part:

Community Shred-It Day, on April 24, 2010 at the Bernie’s Plaza on Wolcott and Lakewood Roads. Sponsored by Waterbury Crime-Stoppers, the event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Come and get rid of all that excess paper you’ve been keeping and shred it!

Earth Day Clean-Up, on May 1, 2010. Participants will meet at the Brass Mill Commons at 8:30 a.m. to receive bags and gloves, water, and a ticket to Frankie’s on Watertown Avenue for a free hot dog. The clean-up will take place all over the city from 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
